Born in the Azores, Portugal and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brasil, Manny began his soccer career playing the game barefooted in the streets and beaches of Rio de Janeiro and later played Futsal with Mackenzie Sports Club. After arriving in California from Brasil he played with three different semi-pro clubs - Tulare Angrense AC, Artesia DES and Chino DES until the late 1990’s in the Pacific Soccer League, (PSL), and the San Bernardino Soccer League.
For several years, he was the Program Director and Head Soccer Coach at Brea HS, El Dorado HS, Servite HS as well as Cerritos College. During his tenure at Brea Olinda HS from 1981 to 1991 --- the varsity teams won seven Orange league championships, won CIF, California Interscholastic Federation, in 1986 and runner up in 1987 and Quarter Finalists in 1985 and 1988.
Currently Manny coaches teams with the CDA Slammers - Fullerton and Troy HS girls and boys program.
Also, in 2006, Manny founded the Wildcat Futsal Club and serves as the Futsal club advisor. The Futsal club has more than 100 students and in conjunction with ASB sponsors an intramural coed tourney in the spring.
From 1989 to 1999 Manny was the Head Coach for California Youth Soccer Association boys U14 State Team with the US Olympic Development Program (ODP). During his tenure with CYSA-s he helped identify players such as Frank Heydjuk, (former, GALAXY & USMNT), among others who made it to the collegiate and professional level. Coach Toledo holds a ‘C’ National Coaching License from the (USSF) United States Soccer Federation.
Manny started and directs his own Soccer & Futsal Academies in 1987 -- known as the City of Brea Manny Toledo's O C Camps and Futsal Academy in Brea (Brea junior HS, Brea sports park) and in Placentia (Sierra Vista & Tuffree schools) where more than 6,000 youngsters from local JUSA, BSA and AYSO organizations have participated. In addition, Manny travels internationally and participates in advanced soccer coaching courses in the US, Brasil, Mexico, Portugal and most recently, during the summer of 2011 he was a guest coach of World Class Club Atletico River Plate in Buenos Aires Argentina, where he had an opportunity to observe the infrastructure of their youth developmental system for players of all ages.
During the summer of 2012 Manny traveled to Mexico City, where he was a guest coach of Pumas UNAM, one of the top professional clubs in Mexico and the best Developmental Academy in the country to observe and learn from top coaches in Mexico’s Youth Soccer Academies.
Known as top clinician and instructor, Manny is well received by players, coaches and parents because of his fun, positive, colorful teaching and coaching approach. Manny is a staff member at Brea Olinda Unified School District and works in the boys Physical Education Department. Manny lives in Placentia with his wife Julie and their two sons, Zane and Max. Manny speaks Futebol, Portuguese, Spanish and some English.
